Lifelong Staten Islander Lila M. Montalbano, 61, of Huguenot, a registered nurse who enoyed traveling and helping others, died Saturday at home.
Born Lila Matsen in Rossville, she moved to Huguenot in 1983.
She worked as a registered nurse at Staten Island Heart, retiring in 2011.
After graduating from Tottenville High School, Mrs. Montalbano earned a bachelor's degree in nursing from the College of Staten Island.
She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, gardening, caring for her birds and dogs, and preparing Christmas and holiday dinners. She also liked to travel, and recently visited Italy. She also enjoyed helping others, both medically and in her perosnal life.
Surviving are her husbad of more than 40 years, Ben; two sons, Michael and Chris; her mother, Reberta Matsen; four brothers; seven sisters, and two grandchildren.
The funeral will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. in the Bedell-Pizzo Funeral, Tottenville. Arrangements include cremation.
