Laurie A. O'Byrne

Laurie O’Byrne passed away on May 22, 2023 at Memorial Sloan Kettering Hospital in Manhattan at the age of 57 after a prolonged illness.

She was born in Staten Island, New York on November 8, 1965.  The youngest daughter of Brenda and Eugene O’Byrne. She is survived by her beloved husband, Andreas Ohl of Saddle River, New Jersey.  They were married in February 2005.

Laurie attended the College of Staten Island CUNY, graduating in 1988 with a degree in accounting.  She obtained her CPA license in 1989.  Upon graduating, she joined Coopers & Lybrand, today known as PwC, the largest accounting firm in the world.  She subsequently worked for Johnson & Johnson and Toys r Us in executive capacities. 

Laurie had a passion for animals.  She volunteered at the local animal shelter and was actively involved with numerous local and national animal welfare organizations.  She was also a founding member of the Dean’s Advisory Council for the business school at the College of Staten Island.

Laurie is survived by her mother, Brenda O'Byrne,  her sister Linda Barbaria, her brother Daniel and his wife Sandra, and her brother John and his wife Marie, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.  She was proceeded in death by her father Eugene and her brother in-law Mickey Barbaria.
