STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- Longtime Staten Island resident Kay Gambon, 85, of Tottenville, died Wednesday at home.
Born Kay Knight in Alexandria Bay, N.Y., she attended General Brown Junior/Senior High School, Dexter, N.Y. She also lived in Florida before settling in Tottenville in 1961.
In her leisure time, Mrs. Gambon enjoyed painting, cooking, knitting and traveling, especially to St. Croix in the U.S. Virgin Islands.
Her daughter, Renee Gambon, said friends and family will miss her mother's laughter and kindness.
Her husband of 43 years, Howard, died in 2001.
Her son, Thomas, died in 1972; another son, Morris died in 1968 and her daughter, Lori, died in 2006.
In addition to her daughter, Renee, surviving are two sons, George and Howard; four grandchildren, and one great-grandson.
Funeral arrangements, including cremation, are being handled by the Bedell-Pizzo Funeral Home, Tottenville. There will be a private ceremony at Johnson Funeral Home, Dexter.
