Katherine Early, our beloved, beautiful loving mother went to heaven to be with her beloved Mother. Mom was simply known as Nan. Everyone called her Nan or Nana. Nan married very young. Nan lived her entire 96 years living in the house she was born in, a house in Tottenville, she married and raised her family in the same house.
Her last wish was to die in her house, a promise her daughter Edna and husband Geary made possible by their constant love and attention. Placing her in Hospice care. Where she was incredibly taken care of until her last breath. All Nan knew was family, her children were her life. Nan endured many hardships, made many sacrifices to protect and provide for her girls. Despite the hardships in her life she did everything possible to give her girls the best childhood. She loved taking the girls to the Jersey shore, Great Adventure, Hershey Park, she made sure her girls had fun especially in the summer. Nan loved holidays, Christmas was her favorite, she loved decorating the house, baking Christmas cookies, a tradition that continues especially with her daughter Edna. Nan loved to croche, she loved ceramics, she would make Christmas trees and Santa statues. Each holiday was important, it was time for the family to gather around her kitchen table. She loved nothing more than having her daughters with her. As grandchildren came into the picture, her life became happier. She adored her grandkids, she was devoted to them. Most of her time was spent having fun, baking cookies, swimming in the pool with her grandchildren. Nan spent many years working for dentists Dr. Einhorn and Dr. Leon. She loved working.
She was able to provide the things her girls needed. Even when working Nan would make it fun. Nan loved life, she loved having fun, had a beautiful smile and a hearty laugh. Nan would say “no one is perfect “, Nan was known to curse you out if you deserved it. It was kind of funny. I will close with one of the most beautiful memories of my Nan, every single night, no matter if in pain, or very sick, I would hear Nan reciting her prayers. She said the name of each and every person in her family, people she loved, those who were sick themselves. She would be upset in case she forgot someone. Mom loved life, she loved her daughters, she adored her grandchildren. Nan will always live on in our hearts. Mom, we love you.
