Native Staten Islander Julie Jones, 55, a movie and TV industry accountant who was responsible for the budgets of several Hollywood blockbusters, died March 24 at her home in Sherman Oaks, Calif.
Born on Staten Island, Ms. Jones grew up in Eltingville. She graduated from Tottenville High School, then attended the College of Staten Island and Brooklyn College.
She began her storied television and film industry career as an intern with After School Specials, then went on to become one of the most sought-after accountants in the entertainment industry, controlling the budget on films such as Pearl Harbor, Armageddon and The Pirates of the Caribbean franchise.
Staying true to her Island roots, she regularly helped borough residents land roles as extras.
Ms. Jones loved her job and the people she worked with, her family said, and took pleasure in entertaining friends, cousins, nephews, nieces and out-of-towners at her home.
She became a beloved part of many an extended family and will be missed by all, said her brother, Douglas.
