Julia Mac Dowell

Julia Mac Dowell, 86, passed away peacefully at the Staten Island University Hospital North on December 5, 2021. Julia was born in Liverpool, England on June 11,1935. She came over to the United States at the age of 23. She attended The College of Staten Island, where she obtained her Associates Degree. Julia also attended St. Vincent's School of Nursing where she received her LPN license. She worked in many different places being a LPN such as SI Hospital, South Beach Psychiatric Center, and A Very Special Place Inc. She worked with many different agencies doing private duty work as an LPN also. In 1986, she worked for the NYC Department of Social Services until she retired in 1999. Julia enjoyed traveling, going on trips to Atlantic City, reading books about Liverpool, doing crossword puzzles and watching Jeopardy. The thing she enjoyed the most was visits from her family and friends, especially her niece Margie Basso, and playing with her great grandchildren.

Julia was predeceased by her husband Ronald in 1986. She is survived by her children, Susan Urciuoli, Maureen Larsen(Bill),and Donna Locke (Scott). Her grandchildren Steven Larsen (Samantha), Hope Kartelias, Katie Larsen, James Larsen, Michael Urciuoli, Amanda Urciuoli, Tory Locke and Brittany Cannone (Mike). She has 5 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She is also predeceased by her sisters Rose, Cecilia, Margaret, Mary, Agnes and her brother John. She will be missed by all.
