STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. - Native Staten Islander Joyce A. Motola, 62, of Toms River, N.J., a homemaker who enjoyed decorating, died Thursday in Ocean Medical Center, Brick, N.J., after a long illness.
Born Joyce Hasselman in Concord, she later lived in Rosebank. Mrs. Motola settled in Huguenot in 1995 and moved to Toms River 10 years ago.
She graduated from St. Joseph Hill Academy in 1969. Four years later, she earned a bachelor's degree from Berkeley College at one of the school's New Jersey campuses.
Primarily a homemaker, Mrs. Motola worked as a paralegal for a Forest Avenue law firm until the 1980s.
She enjoyed decorating and creating floral arrangements.
Mrs. Motola attended Our Lady Star of the Sea R.C. Church, Huguenot.
Surviving are her husband of 43 years, Frank; her daughters, Donna Coppa and Tracy Motola; a brother, Edward; two sisters, Judy Van Pelt and Theresa Morris, and three grandchildren.
The funeral service will be Monday at 10 a.m. in the Bedell-Pizzo Funeral Home, Tottenville. Burial will follow in Ocean View Cemetery, Oakwood.
