Joyce Chapman, 89, of Great Kills, a retired technician and secretary, died Tuesday at home.
Born Joyce Lane in Port Richmond, she grew up in Tottenville. In 1996 she relocated to Barnegat, N.J., then moved to Woodbridge, N.J. in 2007 and had lived in Great Kills since 2012.
A graduate of Tottenville High School, she graduated from Katherine Gibbs School in 1943.
Mrs. Chapman worked as a EKG technician at the former Richmond Memorial Hospital, Prince's Bay. Prior to that, she was a parish secretary at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Tottenville.
She was a member of the Tottneville AARP and the South Shore Swim Club.
In her spare time, she enjoyed knitting, crochetting and solving crossword puzzles.
Her husband of 62 years, Edward, preceded her in death in 2008.
She is survived by her sons, Michael, John and William; her daughter, Barbara McCormack; four grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be Tuesday at 8 p.m. in the Bedell-Pizzo Funeral Home, Tottenville. Arrangements include cremation.
