STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- Joseph D'Alessio, 31, of Annadale, a former bagel store employee who was a sports and history buff and loved being a brother and an uncle, died Friday at home.
The lifelong Annadale resident graduated from Tottenville High School in 2003.
Mr. D'Alessio had worked in family bagel stores.
He was a sports and history fanatic, his family said.
Mr. D'Alessio possessed a well of knowledge about all kinds of sports. A frequent caller to WFAN, he was known as Joe from Staten Island. He also had a passion for history.
Mr. D'Alessio could light up a room with his fun-loving personality and great sense of humor, family said. He not only was a jokester, he was a comedian who loved to do impersonations.
He was close to his brothers and sister and became a first-time uncle in September, an experience he called the best thing that ever happened to him, family added.
Surviving are his mother, Loretta D'Alessio; his father, Edward D'Alessio; his stepmother, Deidre DeAngelis-D'Alessio; his brothers, twin Edward and Andrew; his sister, Jennifer D'Alessio-Kuka, and his grandmother, Lucy LaSala.
The funeral will be Tuesday from the Bedell-Pizzo Funeral Home, Tottenville, with a Mass at noon in Holy Child R.C. Church, Eltingville. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Pleasant Plains.
