Jorge Colon, 50, of Annadale, a marching band drill design coordinator and band performance judge who loved music and enjoyed cooking, died Thursday in Staten Island University Hospital, Ocean Breeze.

Mr. Colon was born in Manhattan and spent his teen years in Heightstown, N.J. He also lived in Chappaqua, N.Y., before moving to Annadale 15 years ago.

A graduate of Heightstown High School, he earned his bachelor's degree in education from Kutztown University of Pennsylvania.

He was a marching band designer and coordinator at Tottenville High School and his alma mater, Heightstown High School.

Mr. Colon was a proud member of the Madison Claviers Drum and Bugle Corps. He also enjoyed designing marching drills for the Phantom Regiment, a Drum and Bugle Corps in Rockford, Ill., and being a judge in the U.S. Marching Bands Competition.

He also enjoyed music and cooking.

Mr. Colon is survived by his brother, Troy McConnel, and his sister, Esther Colon.

The funeral service will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. in Messiah Lutheran Church, Annadale. Burial will be in Kensico Cemetery, Vahalla, N.Y. Arrangements are being handled by the Bedell-Pizzo Funeral Home, Tottenville.
