Tottenville family man, Army combat engineer in Vietnam
Jonathan J. Scott, 71, of Tottenville passed away on July 18, 2018, at Staten Island University Hospital South. He was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., then moved to Staten Island 40 years ago.
He was a graduate of Tilden H.S. in Brooklyn. Jonathan served in the U.S. Army as a combat engineer in Vietnam. He also served proudly for 20 years in the U.S. Army Reserve and retired as chief warrant officer 3. He served in the New York Guard as CW 3 for many years. Jonathan was a cable splicer for Verizon in Brooklyn, retiring in 2008.
He enjoyed model railroading and especially enjoyed attending train shows with his grandsons. He also loved spending time with his family and friends.
Jonathan is survived by his beloved wife of 45 years, Christine, his loving children, Michael (Paula) and Lauren Richichi (Dominick), his sister, Jeanette Mazzola, and his grandchildren, Daniel, Joseph, and Matthew.
Funeral from Bedell-Pizzo Funeral Home on Saturday at 11:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady Help of Christians R.C. Church is at 12 noon. Interment to follow at Resurrection Cemetery.
Friends may visit Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
