John E. Russell, 70
Native Staten Islander retired from SIRTOA
John E. Russell, 70, passed away on Feb. 1, 2019, at Mt. Sinai Hospital from an illness. He was a native Staten Islander.
John retired in April 2010 after working for 40 years at the Staten Island Rapid Transit Operating Authority, where he held numerous management positions. He graduated from Tottenville High School, Class of 1966.
John served and was honorably discharged from the United States Army. He attended Our Lady Help of Christians R.C. Church in Tottenville.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Margaret; his sons, John Jude and Timothy Patrick; daughter, Meghan Brighid; his three grandchildren; brothers, Phillip and Thomas, and sisters, Cathy and Marion. He was predeceased by his sister, Helen.
The funeral is from Bedell-Pizzo Funeral Home on Tuesday, Feb. 5. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady Help of Christians R.C Church at 10 a.m. Tuesday. Interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery. Friends may visit Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
