John J. O'Regan

John J. O’Regan (Jack), 90, passed away peacefully at home on October 7, 2024. Jack was born on May 24,1934 in Staten Island, NY to George (Johnno) and Kathryn (née Devlin) O’Regan. Jack grew up in Port Richmond and graduated from Port Richmond High School. He is pre deceased by his siblings Maureen (Lachaire), George, William (Bill), and Patrice (Pat Fisher).

Jack was a decorated Marine, having served in Korea where he participated in “OPS against the enemy”. He spent 24 years working as a Firefighter with the FDNY retiring in 1983 from Ladder 77 after an on the job injury.

Jack married the love of his life Dorothy (Diane, née deTranaltes) in 1959. They have 4 children, Dawn (Rich Antonik), John (Elizabeth Cosgriff), Christine (Steven Curran), Terence (Bernadette Curran).

In his younger years, Jack enjoyed playing softball - with his claim to fame having played with fellow Marine Ted Williams in Korea. Jack enjoyed playing the piano, crossword puzzles, and especially watching movie classics and westerns. His fact knowledge was second to none and it was a rare occurrence if he missed a Final Jeopardy question.

After Diane’s unexpected death in 1989, Jack relocated to The Villages in Florida, where he became the video photographer for the Masters Swim Team (VAST). He spent the last several years of his life residing with his children.

Jack is survived by 10 grandchildren, Kacey, Ryan, Kevin, Jessica, Patrick, Caitlyn, Matthew, Patrick, Terence (TJ), Daniel, and 5 great grandchildren, Laila, Quint, Kiera, Finn, and McKenna.

Jack’s sense of humor and jokes will be forever missed.
