Longtime Tottenville resident John Killeen Sr., 76, a retired office manager and devoted family man, died Saturday in Sunrise of Wall, Belmar, N.J.

Born and raised in the Bronx, he moved to Tottenville in 1971 and lived there until 2010, when he settled in Belmar.

Mr. Killeen served in the U.S. Navy.

He worked for Merrill Lynch in Manhattan for 30 years. A back office manager, he retired in 1998.

He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Social League of United Tottenville and the Yetman Avenue Youth Club.

Mr. Killeen was a New York Mets and football Giants fan, and enjoyed golf.

He cherished time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Mr. Killeen was a parishioner of Our Lady Help of Christians R.C. Church, Tottenville, where he served as an usher.

His wife of 54 years, Grace, died in January. He also was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Faith Mary.

Surviving are his sons, John Jr. and Thomas; his daughter, Tricia Caputo, and eight grandchildren.

The funeral will be Saturday from the Bedell-Pizzo Funeral Home, Tottenville, with a mass at 10 a.m. in Our Lady Help of Christians Church. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Pleasant Plains.
