JoAnn Magee (Falchick) was born in Brooklyn, New York on May 17th 1942, and passed December 12th, 2023, in Staten Island. She lived in Borough Park, Brooklyn with her family until her marriage to Donald in 1966. After graduating from high school at 16, she pursued her education at Brooklyn College, earning her associate degree. JoAnn passionately utilized her education and training to make a difference in the lives of many. She worked as a laboratory technician in various clinical settings in Brooklyn before moving to Staten Island with her husband in 1969. She took a brief break from her career to raise her 4 children, returning to healthcare in the 1980s at Richmond Memorial Hospital/SIUH. JoAnn lost her loving husband Donald Sr. in 1998 and her oldest son Donald Jr. in 2009. She is survived by her children David and his wife Janine Magee, Sean and his wife Cyndi Magee, and her daughter Jennifer and her husband Anthony Dimino. She felt that her greatest accomplishment in life were her 15 grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Anyone who knew JoAnn knew that her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the light of her life. She was avid shopper and always loved to find a bargain. She tended to her garden and plants as she if they were her children.
JoAnn was known for her unwavering strength and unique way of expressing herself. Always well-intentioned, she spoke her mind with a one-of-a-kind delivery, telling you exactly what you needed to hear. Her presence will be deeply missed, but her love and wisdom will forever echo in the hearts of those who were fortunate to know her.
The viewing will be held on December 17th, 2023, from 2-4 and 7-9 at Bedell-Pizzo Funeral Home 7447 Amboy Road Tottenville NY 10307. The funeral will be on December 18th, 2023, at Our Lady Help of Christians Parish at 11 am, 7396 Amboy Road, Staten Island, NY 10307. Interment is on December 18th, 2023, at Ocean View Cemetery following the mass; 3315 Amboy Rd, Staten Island, NY 10306.
