Joan Johnsen (nee Mastromarino), 78, passed away on Feb. 17, 2017, at Addeo House Hospice after a short battle with cancer.
Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., Joan moved to Staten Island and lived in Annadale for 75 years.
She graduated from Curtis High School and was a secretary in Chase Manhattan Bank in New York City.
Joan was always there for her children and grandchildren, volunteering in the schools and attending shows and plays.
My Mom will be remembered for all the great memories created on all the adventures that were taken together. She was loved and cared for by many.
Joan recently belonged to the Mt. Loretto Friendship Club and enjoyed ceramics, bingo, socializing, parties, and trips. She was well known for her cooking, baking, sewing and for her caring manner. She always opened the door or dinner table for anyone who needed it and belonged to the Curtis High School Reunion Committee.
Joan is survived by her loving children, Paul Johnsen, his wife, Debra McSweeney-Johnsen; Gregg Johnsen, his wife, Suzanne, and Donna Tricarico, her husband, Nicholas, and grandchildren, Cody Johnsen, Gregg Johnsen, Shannon Johnsen, Nicholas Tricarico, Dennis McSweeney, Jaclyn Tricarico, Maggie McSweeney, Thomas Tricarico, Patrick McSweeney, and Daniel Johnsen.
She was beloved by many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
A funeral service will be held at Bedell-Pizzo Funeral Home on Saturday, Feb. 25, at 11 a.m. Friends may visit Friday, Feb. 24, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, contribution to Addeo House Hospice or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital would be appreciated
