Longtime Tottenville resident Jean Jachcinski, 74, a doting mother and grandmother, died Sunday at her home in Red Bank, N.J.
Born Jean Glowacki in Lyndhurst, N.J., she moved with her family to Tottenville in 1951. She settled in Red Bank in 2002.
Mrs. Jachcinski co-owned and operated J&J Pharmacy in Tottenville for 27 years, until it was sold in 1987.
She also worked as an aide at PS 1 and Totten Intermediate, both Tottenville, and as an administrative assistant for the New Jersey Highway Authority.
She was a loving mother who loved her grandchildren, said her daughter, Kathryn McHale, on behalf of the family.
An avid Giants fan, Mrs. Jachcinski also loved travel.
On the Island, she was a parishioner of Our Lady Help of Christians R.C. Church, Tottenville. In New Jersey, she attended St. Anthony of Padua R.C. Church, Red Bank.
Her husband, Joseph, died in 1986.
Surviving, along with her daughter, Kathryn, are her sons, Joseph Jr. and Michael; her daughter, Julie MacPherson, and nine grandchildren.
The funeral will be Thursday from the Bedell-Pizzo Funeral Home, Tottenville, with a mass at 11 a.m. in Our Lady Help of Christians Church. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Pleasant Plains.
