Janet M. Lawler (née Liss) 82, passed away on December 26 at home surrounded by her family. A native, and life-long Staten Islander, born to Walter Liss born in Poland and raised on Staten Island, and Margaret Chapman a life-long Staten Islander. Janet was a 1956 graduate of Tottenville High School. She was married to Walter Lawler in 1956 and raised their four children Mary Lee, Walter, Lisa, and Karen in the Pleasant Plains area of Staten Island. In 1977, she became a healthcare worker for United Cerebral Palsy, devoted to caring for those with mental and physical disabilities. She retired in 2002 to spend time helping with her grandchildren. She is survived by her children, her only sister Kandy Liss, her aunt Ann Kish, her grandchildren Jessica, Nicole, Stacy, Jarrett, James, and Walter, her great grandchildren Ethan, Julia, Daniel, Bailee, Charlie, and Avery, and her caregiver and friend Annie Larsen. She also leaves behind dozens of much loved cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Funeral from Bedell-Pizzo Funeral Home on Monday at 9AM. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Thomas’s RC Church at 10:00AM. Interment to follow at Resurrection Cemetery. Friends may visit on Sunday from 2-4&7-9PM
