James Patrick Murray

James Patrick Murray, age 81, passed peacefully on Tuesday, April 4^th, 2023 at Spring Arbor Assisted Living in Midlothian, VA.

He was born in Brooklyn, NY on April 29^th, 1941 to Hugh and Bridget (Coyle) Murray. He is a graduate of Manhattan College and served his country in the Army Reserves.

He spent his early years in Brooklyn and then moved to Staten Island with his wife Maryann. He worked for years providing for his family as a commodities broker for Prudential Bache and Wells Fargo Advisors. When he retired, he moved to Mechanicsville, VA to be closer to his children and grandchildren.

He was the life of the party, with a quick wit and charm even throughout his battle with Alzheimer’s. He knew the lyrics to every Frank Sinatra song, and he made better margaritas than you ever will.

Jim was a loving husband to his wife of 55 years, Maryann Murray who passed on August 21^st, 2022.  He is preceded in death by his parents Hugh and Bridget Murray, and his brothers Joseph and Donald Murray. He will be forever loved and missed by his children, Christine Houlihan and husband Torrance Houlihan, Danielle Morgan and husband Christopher Morgan, and James Murray and wife Melyssa Murray; by his 6 grandchildren Connor, Ryan, Jack, Alyssa, Kaylee and Cailin, as well as by all his family and friends.

Visiting hours are at Bedell-Pizzo Funeral Home, 7447 Amboy Road, Staten Island, NY, 10307 Monday, April 10^th, 2023 from 2-4 pm and 7-9pm.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, April 11^th at 9:30am at St. Thomas the Apostle RC Church, 6097 Amboy Road, Staten Island, NY 10309.

Interment will follow the Mass on Tuesday, April 11^th at  Moravian Cemetery, 2205 Richmond Road, Staten Island, NY 10306.
