STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- James Della Croce, 57, of Huguenot, a banking executive who had a big personality and enjoyed coaching his children, died Thursday in Staten Island University Hospital, Princes Bay.

Born in Brooklyn, Mr. Della Croce had lived in Huguenot for 15 years.

He worked for ABN Amro in Jersey City for 11 years in the risk management department.

A graduate of Brooklyn Technical High School, Mr. Della Croce attended St. Francis College, Brooklyn, where he played on the hockey team.

He enjoyed golf, hunting and coaching his children in soccer and basketball.

Mr. Della Croce attended Holy Trinity-St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, Bulls Head.

He had a great sense of humor and he made everybody laugh,' said his wife, Irene. Everybody called him the mayor because he knew everyone. He was the life of the party. He really was.'

He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Irene; his sons, Michael, Matthew and Anthony; his daughter, Nicole Della Croce; his father, Arthur Della Croce; his brothers, Thomas, Peter and Daniel, and his sisters, Patricia Della Croce and Christine Henrique.
The funeral will be Monday at 10 a.m. in Holy Trinity-St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church. Burial will be in Moravian Cemetery, New Dorp. The Bedell-Pizzo Funeral Home, Tottenville, handled the arrangements.
