James "Jimmy" Conway of Staten Island, devoted husband and father entered into eternal life on Tuesday, December 14, 2021 after a brief illness.
Jimmy was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, where he enjoyed an adventurous childhood in a home full of loving family and lifelong friends. His storytelling of those days was tender, wildly entertaining and outright hillarious.
Jimmy met Eileen Maliff, a Jersey girl, in 1991. Although she was deemed "geographically undesirable" by his best friend, he managed to overlook that "con" and quickly turned her into Eileen Conway in 1992. A few years later arrived his most precious and proud accomplishment, his daughter, Mary Veronica. Their bond was unbreakable from day one and so remains.
Prior to retiring from the NYC Department of Sanitation (BK2), Jimmy worked at Fidelity Investments in NYC as a stock broker having earned his Series 7 license. Most recently, Jimmy was employed by ShopRite in Charlestown where he worked in the bakery department; a job he very much enjoyed and where he made some very good friends.
Jimmy delighted in spoiling his family with delicious homemade meals while happily performing neverending chores. His steadfast dedication along with his boundless energy carried his family gently into a daily life of great comfort and ease. Simply put, Jimmy was SuperMan.
Pre-deceased by his parents, John and Mary Veronica Conway, surviving are his beloved wife, Eileen, adored daughter, Mary Veronica Conway Kolka and highly regarded son-in-law Hubert Kolka of Hoboken; sister, Mary Veronica Conway and spouse, Joanne of Sacramento, CA; brother, Jack and wife Abby of Brooklyn; many adored nephews, nieces, great nephews and great nieces. We would be remiss not to mention his furry companion, Danny Boy, AKA DanDan, and certainly his wonderful cousins and lifelong friends.
The family would like to acknowledge the wonderful kindness of the staff at S.I.University Hospital North interventional radiology department with whom Jimmy shared a great rapport and repaid their kindness in pastries. Furthermore, the incredible staff of VNSNY Hospice and Palliative Care for their extraordinary care of our family during this time.
