James P. Burt, Jr.

James P. Burt, Jr., 81, of Pleasant Plains, passed away on February 23, 2025 at home surrounded by his loving family.

James was a lifelong Staten Islander , born on August 24, 1943.  He graduated from Port Richmond High School and continued his education at Wagner College where he was a member of Kappa Sigma Alpha. He was a Special Education teacher for many years before retiring from the New York City Department of Education. 

For several years, James coached youth soccer.  He was an avid NY Yankee fan and enjoyed fishing and hunting.  He loved making pizza with his grandchildren and his trips with family.

James is survived by his wife, Barbara; his three children, James, Erin, and Amy Federico; and six grandchildren.
