Helen Sypniewski, 75, of Tottenville, a retired secretary and a homemaker whose family was most important to her, died Friday at home.
Born Helen Subjinski, she was a lifelong Tottenville resident and graduated from Tottenville High School.
Mrs. Sypniewski worked as a secretary at Mount Loretto, Pleasant Plains, and then in the same position for St. Vincent's Services, also a childcare agency. She retired 10 years ago.
She was a traditional homemaker as well, and loved to cook and bake, especially for the holidays.
Mrs. Sypniewski most loved being with her family and adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, family said.
She enjoyed traveling in recent years, and favorite destinations included Hawaii, Las Vegas and Niagara Falls. She also enjoyed visits to Atlantic City.
Mrs. Sypniewski was a parishioner of Our Lady Help of Christians R.C. Church, Tottenville.
Surviving are her son, Joseph Jr.; her daughter, Theresa Sypniewski Dahlstrom; five grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be Tuesday from the Bedell-Pizzo Funeral Home, Tottenville, with a Mass at 10 a.m. in Our Lady Help of Christians Church. Arrangements include cremation.
