Grace Linderman, 86, a retired accounting clerk who had a passion for theater, particularly Broadway shows, died Tuesday in Staten Island University Hospital, Prince's Bay.
She was born Grace Duffy in Manhattan and grew up in Manhattan and New Dorp and lived in Manhattan until 1972, when she went to live with her daughter, Margaret Miller, in Prince's Bay. She had resided in Eger Health Care and Rehabilitation Center, Egbertville, since 2012.
Mrs. Linderman worked for more than 20 years in the accounting department at Cigna Insurance in Manhattan. She retired in 1990.
In the late 1960s and early 1970s she was a member of St. Christopher's theater group in Grant City, and was an actress and singer.
Mrs. Linderman loved attending Broadway shows. The Phantom of the Opera was her favorite musical, and she had seen it 19 times. She also enjoyed watching figure skating.
In her younger years she was an avid bowler and bowled in many leagues at the former Bowling on the Green Lanes in New Dorp.
A loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Mrs. Linderman cherished time with her family. She enjoyed going to Atlantic City twice a week to visit her sister, and she loved spending time with her great-grandson.
She was a parishioner of St. Joseph-R.C. St. Thomas Parish, Pleasant Plains.
Surviving, along with her daughter, Margaret, are three brothers, James, Edward and Philip Duffy; two sisters, Catherine Ferrick and Virginia Keane; two grandchildren, and a great-grandson.
The funeral will be Friday from the Bedell-Pizzo Funeral Home, Tottenville, with a mass at 11 a.m. in St. Joseph's R.C. Church, Rossville. Arrangements include cremation.
