STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. - Lifelong Staten Islander Gladys (Lolly) Okeson, 85, of Prince's Bay, a retired bus matron who is remembered as a loving aunt, died Thursday at home.
The former Gladys Reckhow was born and raised in Tottenville and graduated from Tottenville High School.
After she and William (Charlie) Okeson married in 1946, the couple moved to Prince's Bay.
Mrs. Okeson worked as a bus matron for Pioneer Transportation Corp. She retired in the late 1980s.
She enjoyed having family barbecues at her home in the summertime and taking trips to Atlantic City.
William, her husband of 54 years, died in 2000.
Mrs. Okeson is survived by her nieces, Carol Huben, Constance Porray, Deborah Kelsey and Barbara Neller.
The funeral service will be Monday at 10 a.m. in the Bedell-Pizzo Funeral Home, Tottenville. Burial will follow in Clover Leaf Memorial Park, Woodbridge, N.J.
