Gertrude (Trudy) Scrima, 88, a homemaker and family matriarch who loved music and singing, died Monday in Clove Lakes Health Care and Rehabilitation Center, Castleton Corners, where she had resided since 2013.

Born Gertrude Klug in the Bronx, she graduated from Walton High School in her native borough.

Mrs. Scrima moved to West Brighton in 1953 and to New Dorp 10 years later. She settled in Rossville in 2002.

She cherished her family and being with them.

She also loved music and singing and sang lead soprano with the Staten Island chapter of the Sweet Adelines. Her favorite song was Somewhere Over the Rainbow, family said.

Mrs. Scrima was fond of traveling to destinations including Hawaii, London, Ireland, Las Vegas, and Albuquerque, N.M., where her sister, Freida, lived. She also enjoyed cooking, dining out and watching classic movies.

She was the most caring, loving wife, mother, grandmother and mother-in-law, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her, her son-in-law, Henry DiBella.

Mrs. Scrima's husband of 37 years, Arthur, died in 1989.

Surviving are her son, Arthur G.; her daughters, Barbara DiBella, Lisa Castelli and Andrea Scrima; eight grandchildren, and a great-grandson.

The funeral service will be held Saturday at 9 a.m. in Messiah Lutheran Church, Annadale. Burial will follow in Moravian Cemetery, New Dorp. Arrangements are being handled by the Bedell-Pizzo Funeral Home, Tottenville.
