STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- George Williams, 83, a retired insurance broker, died Friday in Staten Island University Hospital, Prince's Bay.
Born and raised in Brooklyn, he graduated from Boys High School and moved to Prince's Bay in 1986.
Mr. Williams was a self-employed insurance broker at Alcar, located in the Bensonhurst section of Brooklyn for 45 years, retiring in 2002.
Mr. Williams was a member of the Kiwanis Club in Bensonhurst and The Club, a group of friends and family that has met regularly for 60 years.
He was a New York Giants and Mets fan.
He also enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
He was a horse racing enthusiast who enjoyed visiting Atlantic City.
Mr. Williams was a parishioner of St. Thomas R.C. Church, Pleasant Plains.
Surviving are his wife of 57 years, the former Carole Miglino; a son, George; a daughter, Katherine Cossean, and five grandchildren.
The funeral will be Monday from the Bedell-Pizzo Funeral Home, Tottenville, with a mass at 9:30 a.m. in St. Thomas the Apostle R.C. Church, Pleasant Plains. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Pleasant Plains.
