STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. - George F. Molloy Jr., 70, of Prince's Bay, a retired FDNY chief fire marshal and dog trainer, died yesterday in Staten Island University Hospital, Ocean Breeze.

Born in Brooklyn, Mr. Molloy moved to Prince's Bay in 1948.

After graduating from St. Mary's High School in Perth Amboy, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy from 1958 to 1962, stationed in the Philippines. He then became a New York City firefighter. He worked on fireboats and later became a fire marshal. He also served for a time as the FDNY's Chief Fire Marshal, and retired in 1988.

While working Mr. Molloy went on to graduate from SUNY Empire State College.

In his leisure time, Mr. Molloy enjoyed training and showing dogs. He was a dog trainer for over 25 years and offered dog training classes under the name of Keyrak. He was also an American Kennel Club obedience judge.

Mr. Molloy was a parishioner of St. Thomas the Apostle R.C. Church, Pleasant Plains.

Surviving are a son, George III; a daughter, Lizbeth Molloy; two brothers William and Richard; three sisters, Annamarie Cieplinski, Bernaddette Larsen and Margaret Rieder, and four grandchildren.

The funeral will be Friday from the Bedell-Pizzo Funeral Home, Tottenville, at 10:30 a.m. Cremation will follow in Rosehill Crematory, Linden, N.J.
