Native Staten Islander George Del Grosso, 80, a retired clerk, died Sunday in Mount Sinai Hospital.

Born in Tottenville, he settled in Stapleton 40 years ago.

Mr. Del Grosso worked for 12 years as a clerk with the Department of Sanitation in Travis. He retired in 1992. Prior to that, Mr. Del Grosso worked for 18 years as a clerk at Winthrop Labs in Brooklyn,

A graduate of Tottenville High School, Mr. Del Grosso served for a short time in the United States Navy during the Korean War.

Mr. Del Grosso was a former parishioner of Our Lady Help of Christians R.C. Church, Tottenville.

He enjoyed trips to Atlantic City and also loved his three cats.

He was a wonderful, wonderful brother, very kind, very generous, he would always go out of his way to do anything for you, said his sister, Marie Baker.

Along with his sister, Marie, also surviving are two others sisters, Dolores Stryker and Joyce Pidgeon, and his longtime companion, Frank Scalero.

The funeral will be Thursday at 10 a.m. in the Bedell-Pizzo Funeral Home, Tottenville. Burial will be in Ocean View Cemetery, Oakwood.
