Huguenot resident Frank Tavolaro, 77, a retired cabinet maker and furniture refinisher, died Sunday in Staten Island University Hospital South, Prince's Bay.
Born in Manhattan, Mr. Tavolaro lived in Brooklyn and Queens before moving to Tottenville. He settled in Huguenot in 1978.
He was a graduate of Samuel J. Tilden High School in Brooklyn.
Mr. Tavolaro worked as a cabinet maker and furniture refinisher for 60 years, retiring in 2008.
He enjoyed traveling to Atlantic City with his wife, the former Marie Izzo, once a month to play his luck at the slot machines and go out to dinner.
He also enjoyed playing bingo once a week at St. Ann's R.C. Church, Dongan Hills. Mr. Tavolaro had a green thumb and his garden was always bursting with flowers. He especially loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, and dog, Mickey.
In addition to Marie, his wife of 44 years, he is survived by three daughters, Debra Esposito, Donna Coco and Barbra Agnese, and seven grandchildren.
The funeral will be Saturday from the Bedell-Pizzo Funeral Home, Tottenville, with a mass at 9:45 a.m. in Our Lady Star of the Sea R.C. Church, Huguenot. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Brooklyn.
