Frank V. Paoluccio, 77, of Sunnyside, a retired MTA bus driver who loved to coach Little League and follow baseball, died Thursday at home.
Born in New Brighton, he settled in Sunnyside in 1993.
Mr. Paoluccio graduated from McKee High School in 1954.
He served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Thaddeus Parker destroyer escort as a sailor during the mid-1950s.
He worked as an MTA bus driver for nearly 25 years, retiring in 1986. Afterward, Mr. Paoluccio served as manager and pallbearer at the former Richmond Funeral Home, Grant City, for 13 years.
Mr. Paoluccio was a member of the Granito-Smith post of the American Legion. He was also a Eucharistic minister at St. Paul's Chapel of Assumption R.C. Church, New Brighton.
Mr. Paoluccio was a dedicated Snug Harbor Little League coach who managed several teams, including his children's teams.
He also played in the ASA and Sampson softball leagues, family said.
He was a Yankees and baseball Giants fan, family said, dating back to when the team played in New York. Mr. Paoluccio also enjoyed golf and attending his grandchildren's sporting events.
Once a month, Mr. Paoluccio enjoyed meeting with his fellow retired bus drivers for coffee.
Surviving are his wife of 56 years, the former Margaret Barracato; three sons, Louis, Frank Jr. and James; a daughter, Laura Paoluccio-Valle; nine grandchildren, and two great-grandsons.
The funeral will be Monday from the Bedell-Pizzo Funeral Home, Tottenville, with a mass at 11 a.m. in St. Paul's Chapel of Assumption R.C. Church. Burial will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery, West Brighton.
