Francesca Palmeri

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Francesca Palmeri, also known as “Ciccina,” a beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, who passed away on November 12, 2024 at the age of 94 in Staten Island.
She was born in a town in Sicily, Italy, known as Buseto Palizzolo, Trapani on August 15, 1930 to her parents Vito and Caterina. She immigrated to America in 1965 with her two children Rosaria and Frankie, to reunite with her husband Francesco Palmeri. She quickly became an integral part of her community, becoming a talented seamstress known for her skillful hands and unwavering dedication to her craft, she spent decades creating beautiful garments that were cherished by many. Whether she was mending a beloved dress, designing a custom piece, or sewing by hand with incredible precision, her work was a reflection of her love for beauty and the joy she found in creating. She was also a very dedicated pizzeria owner who had the hands of gold preparing the best of foods, especially rice-balls and zeppole’s in all of Brooklyn. Throughout her life she was known to be a hard worder, strong-willed, determined, and extremely motivated.
Francesca ended up living in Brooklyn, NY for 49 years and moved to Staten Island in the Huguenot area in 2014. She was always surrounded by love, family, and friends. She was a devoted wife to love of her life, Francesco Palmeri.
Her legacy lives on through the countless lives she touched and the memories she created. Francesca was predeceased by her husband Francesco, parents Vito and Caterina, and her siblings. She is survived by her two children Rosaria and Frankie; son-in-law Baldassare; grandchildren Rosa, Gene, Francesca, Vincent, Antonino, Brittany, CristiAnna, and Salvatore; and her great grandchildren Francesco, Jake, Dean, Danaca, Angelia, Vincent, Christian, Gia, Bella, Salvatore, and Lorenzo as well as many dear friends and extended family who will forever remember her love, grace, and gentle spirit. Francesca loved nothing more than to gather together with her family and was always ready to celebrate any life event. Family was at the heart of everything she did. She had a remarkable ability to make everyone feel special, whether through her delicious homemade meals, her thoughtful gestures, or the way she listened with an open heart.
Francesca Palmeri, “Mamma,” “Nonna,” and “Nonna Vecchia,” will be missed beyond measure. May she rest in peace, surrounded by the love of those she cherished most.
