Frances Pizzo

Frances Pizzo (nee: Miranda) formerly of Westerleigh, Staten Island, born June 1, 1926, passed away peacefully on February 3, 2023. Frances is predeceased by her husband Vincent B. Pizzo, her son James Pizzo, her parents Carmella and Joseph Miranda, her brothers Vincent and Joseph Miranda, and her sister Catherine Pizzo.  She is survived by her son Vincent G. Pizzo and daughter-in-law Theresa Pizzo, son Steven Pizzo and daughter-in-law Maureen Pizzo, as well as six grandchildren, Christian Pizzo, Jessica Brix, Steven Pizzo, Kerri Holterman, Bryan Pizzo, and Matthew Pizzo, and four great-grandchildren, Christian Pizzo, Vincenzo Pizzo, Leo Brix, and Francesca Brix.

Frances was a strong and independent woman and had a successful career as an Executive Secretary during her early years of marriage.  A loving and devoted wife and mother, she cherished and adored her family above all else, with a very special place in her heart for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She prayed the rosary for each of her family members daily.    

Anyone who knew Frances experienced her unconditional love, be it through her warm and comforting ways or tireless service and support. She welcomed everyone that came into her home like they were family. She loved seeing people comfortable and enjoying themselves and often would put together epic meals like eggplant parmigiana, meatballs or icebox cake in a moment’s notice.  She was also well known for her biscotti and other cookies which she prepared with love and generously distributed to family, friends, and others she encountered.  She loved music and dancing.  If she wasn’t dancing the lindy, her feet would be moving and swaying to the sound of Big Band classics. No matter the situation, her attitude and demeanor were always pleasant.

Frances will be waked at Bedell Pizzo Funeral Home.  Visitation hours are 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm on Monday, February 6, 2023.  A Funeral Mass at Holy Family Church in Westerleigh, will be held at 12 pm on February 7, 2023, followed by interment at St. Peters Cemetery on Staten Island.
