Filomena Singer, of Rossville, a Colgate Palmolive Co. consumer affairs administrator who was devoted to her family, died Saturday at home, after a long battle with breast cancer.
Born Filomena Catapano in Park Slope, Brooklyn, she was 7 years old when she moved with family to Oakwood.
When she and Frank Singer wed in 1982, the couple settled in Rossville.
Mrs. Singer graduated from New Dorp High School and the Katharine Gibbs School, Manhattan.
She had a 30-year career as a global consumer affairs administrator for the Colgate Palmolive Co., Manhattan.
Mrs. Singer was the manager of her sons' hockey team at Monsignor Farrell High School in Oakwood.
She could light up a room, her family said, and had the ability to bring people together. She loved time at the beach.
Mrs. Singer was a parishioner of St. Joseph-St. Thomas R.C. Parish, Pleasant Plains.
Surviving are her husband of 32 years, Frank; her sons, Nicholas and Michael; her daughter, Janina Singer; her parents, Dolores and Salvatore Catapano, and three brothers, Anthony, John and Salvatore Catapano.
The funeral will be Wednesday from the Bedell-Pizzo Funeral Home, Tottenville, with a mass at 9:30 a.m. in St. Thomas the Apostle R.C. Church, Pleasant Plains. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, also Pleasant Plains.
