Filomena Seamans, 82, passed away at home on May 20th, 2024.
Filomena (lovingly known as Fil) was born in Naples, Italy & lived there with her family until she moved to the U.S. with her husband Curtiss in 1958. Filomena & Curtiss lived in Western N.Y. and the South Bronx before they moved to Staten Island where they raised their three children. In their later years they owned a diner in the Adirondacks where they worked until Curtiss lost his battle with cancer in 2001. Filomena then moved back to Staten Island to care for her mother and after her passing she moved in with her son and his family where she remained for the last 12 years.
During her life she was a proud and accomplished cook who loved being with people and sharing meals at her table. She left a lasting impression on anyone she met, especially during her years working at the Friendship Club at Mount Loretto, where she was a cook from 2001 - 2009. She made countless new friends there among the seniors and staff. All loved her cooking and she loved speaking Italian with her friends and sharing stories of Italy.
Filomena loved to travel and enjoyed spending every summer at her cabin in the Adirondacks. Filomena was beloved by her children and grandchildren and made close friends wherever she went. She was passionate, gregarious, and loved to laugh.
Filomena truly was special, she touched the lives of everyone she knew. The world is a better place for having had her in it.
A celebration of Fil’s life will be held at Bedell-Pizzo Funeral Home
All who new and loved her are invited to attend.
