Evelyn Schaefer

December 7, 1916 — July 26, 2022

Evelyn Frances Schaefer (nee: Esposito), passed away peacefully on July 26, 2022.  Affectionately known as "Aunt Bebe", Evelyn was born and raised in Brooklyn on December 7, 1916.  She was a hat check girl at Lindy's in New York City. She was an avid animal lover and pet rescuer. She frequently went upstate to the family home and loved spending time there with her family.  Evelyn loved baking- her specialties were cheesecake and fruit cake.  She especially loved singing, and "Mairzy Doats" was her favorite song to sing.  Evelyn was very generous and had a heart of gold.

Evelyn was pre-deceased by her husband, Edward Schaefer; father, Ralph Esposito; mother, Frances Esposito-Leone; step-father, Edward Leone, who raised her; sons-in-law, Edward Bilello, John Johnson.

She is survived by her children, Fran Grecco-Bilello and Penny Johnson; grandchildren, Toni Lyn Manetta and her husband, Peter Manetta, Jeffrey Johnson, Shannon Ross and her husband Wayne Ross; great-grandchildren, Anthony Manetta, Alexandra Frances Manetta, Caroline Marie Johnson, Katherine Ava Ross, Charlotte Evelyn Ross; siblings, Raymond Esposito, Julie Reichstadter, Fran Leone; and many nieces and nephews.
