Eric Brown, 80, passed away on Sept. 1, 2016, at JFK Medical Center in Edison, N.J., due to natural causes.
Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., he lived on Staten Island for 29 years; in Metuchen, N.J., for three years, and Edison for 48 years. He was a graduate of Tottenville High School
Eric was the co-owner of Brown Diesel Works in Tottenville for 60 years, retiring in 2013.
He was a member of Danish Brotherhood in America Lodge 46 as a past president, Danish Home of Edison past president, and the Freemasons Lodge in Metuchen.
Eric served in the Army in the 72nd Engineer Co. at Fort Benning, Ga., and in Korea. He had an Expert Rifle and a Good Conduct Medal. He enjoyed swimming, fishing, traveling, archaeology, and history.
He was married for 51 years to his wife, Doris, who survives him. He is also survived by his daughter, Amanda; brother, Hans Brown; sister, Valborg Brown, and the families of the late Christian A. Brown Jr., Margaret (Brown) Murtagh, and Doris (Brown) Wynn.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Salvation Army would be greatly appreciated.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Bedell-Pizzo Funeral Home. Interment is in Moravian Cemetery. Friends may visit Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. -
