Emma Lucanto, 76, of Tottenville, a homemaker who loved spending time with her family, died Tuesday in Staten Island University Hospital, Ocean Breeze.
Born Emma Bilotti in Strongoli, Italy, Mrs. Lucanto immigrated to Brooklyn in 1963, before relocating to Tottenville in 2006.
A homemaker, she enjoyed gardening, sewing, and visiting historic homes with her daughter-in-law, Susan Lucanto. An avid sports fan, she supported the New York Giants, Rangers and Yankees as well as Juventus, the renowned Italian soccer team.
"She was the light and heart of our family, said her daughter," Annamaria Dominguez.
In addition to her daughter, Annamaria, Mrs. Lucanto is survived by her husband of 56 years, John; two sons, Salvatore and Antonio; another daughter, Rosalba Lucanto; a brother Mario Bilotti; two sisters, Angelina Maida and Antoinette Desiena, nine grandchildren and one great granddaughter.
The funeral will be Saturday from the Bedell-Pizzo Funeral Home, Tottenville, with a mass at 10 a.m. in Our Lady Help of Christians R.C. Church, also Tottenville. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Pleasant Plains.
