Elsie Timari

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. - Longtime Tottenville resident Elsie Timari, 84, a devoted mother and grandmother, died Sunday at home.

Born Elsie Kovas in Perth Amboy, N.J., she worked as a cigar roller in a cigar factory before becoming a homemaker in 1948. She settled in Tottenville in the 1950s.

A member for more than 50 years of Huguenot Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star, Mrs. Timari also enjoyed dancing, traveling and making Hungarian cookies.

Her husband of 51 years, Charlie, died in 2005, and her grandson, John Charles Timari, died in 1990.

Surviving are her sons, Richard, Donald, Garry and Robert, and a granddaughter.

The funeral service will be Saturday at 10 a.m. in the Bedell-Pizzo Funeral Home, Tottenville. Arrangements include
