STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. - Elizabeth A. Mahon, 71, of Eltingville, a retired executive secretary who was devoted to her grandchildren, died Monday in Staten Island University Hospital, Ocean Breeze.
Born Elizabeth DeFelice in Brooklyn, Mrs. Mahon moved to Staten Island in 1989, settling in Eltingville. Mrs. Mahon was an executive secretary in the office of the admiral, Navy Exchange Service Command at Fort Wadsworth, for 25 years, retiring in 1993.
In her leisure time, Mrs. Mahon enjoyed reading, watching movies and game shows and doing crossword puzzles.
Most especially, though, she was a proud grandmother and loved attending the activities of her four grandchildren.
"She lived for her grandchildren," said her family.
Her husband of 27 years, Joseph, died in 1986.
Surviving are a son, Michael; a daughter, Amy Doleh, and four grandchildren.
The funeral will be Friday from the Bedell-Pizzo Funeral Home, Tottenville, with a mass at 10 a.m. in Our Lady Star of the Sea R.C. Church, Huguenot. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery, Pleasant Plains.
