Native Staten Islander Eleanor (Dutchess) Woll, 79, of Tottenville, a devoted mother and grandmother who enjoyed helping others, died Thursday in her Tottenville home.
Born Eleanor D'Amico in Port Richmond, Mrs. Woll had lived in Tottenville since 1957.
A graduate of Port Richmond High School, Mrs. Woll was an executive assistant for the Staten Island Advance for more than 20 years, retiring in 2000.
Prior to that employment, she was a secretary for the Mission of the Immaculate Virgin, Mount Loretto, for several years during the 1970s and 1980s.
An attentive grandmother, she treasured time spent with her grandchildren. Mrs. Woll also enjoyed travel, and particularly enjoyed visiting Atlantic City.
She was jut a nice person who liked to help everybody,' said her son, Glen. She was a great mom and a great grandmother.'
Mrs. Woll was preceded in death by her husband, Harold (Ozzie), in 1986. Surviving, in addition to her son, Glen, are her son, Peter; a daughter, Cyndi Ganey; a brother, Peter D'Amico, and six grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held Monday at 10 a.m. in the Bedell-Pizzo Funeral Home, Tottenville. Burial will be in Ocean View Cemetery, Oakwood.
