Eleanor C. Sinski, 95, of Great Kills, a homemaker and former business owner and the loving matriarch of three generations of family, died Tuesday in Staten Island University Hospital, Ocean Breeze.
Born Eleanor C. Zuppe in Manhattan, she graduated from Haaren High School and attended secretarial school there. After she and Andrew S. Sinski wed in 1946, the couple moved to Tottenville. Mrs. Sinski settled in Great Kills in 1999.
During World War II, she worked in a factory on Staten Island that made bombs for the defense effort.
In the late 1950s, she owned El and Andy's Record Shop in Tottenville for eight years.
Mrs. Sinski was a member of the Exceptional Children's Club.
She gave generously of her time and energy, volunteering for the Staten Island Blind Association, Staten Island Aid for Retarded Children and the Staten Island Mental Health Thrift shops in Great Kills and Tottenville.
In her leisure time, she enjoyed making jewelry.
Mrs. Sinski was a parishioner of Our Lady Help of Christians R.C. Church, Tottenville.
Andrew, her husband of 52 years, died in 1998.
She is survived by her sons, Andrew and Louis; her daughter, Pamela Micciulla; five grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be Saturday from the Bedell-Pizzo Funeral Home, Tottenville, with a mass at 9:30 a.m. in Our Lady Help of Christians Church. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Pleasant Plains.
