Edward P. Lanzetta Sr., 82, of Prince's Bay, a retired NYPD officer, bank investigator and family man, died Tuesday at home.
Mr. Lanzetta graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School in his native Brooklyn. He moved to Prince's Bay in 1991.
He had a 21-year career with the NYPD, first assigned to Manhattan's 18th Precinct, and retired from the warrant squad in Brooklyn in 1978. He later worked for Ralph Aievoli & Son Funeral Home in Brooklyn as a pallbearer, before becoming an investigator for Chase Manhattan Bank for 15 years.
Mr. Lanzetta was a member of the NYPD Honor Legion and the Columbia Association.
He was dedicated to his family and loved being with them. He particularly enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and going to his grandson's sporting events.
Mr. Lanzetta also liked to play golf.
Surviving are his wife of 43 years, Marilyn; his son, Edward Jr.; his daughter, Jacqueline Capogrosso, and three grandchildren.
The funeral will be Saturday from the Bedell-Pizzo Funeral Home, Tottenville, with a Mass at 10:30 a.m. in St. Thomas the Apostle R.C. Church, Pleasant Plains. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, also Pleasant Plains.
