Dorothy Peerson, 81, a longtime Tottenville resident and a homemaker who was dedicated to her family, died Sunday in Clove Lakes Health Care and Rehabilitation Center, Castleton Corners, where she had resided since 2009.
Born Dorothy Muller in Prince's Bay, she grew up in Rensselaer, N.Y. After she and Robert Peerson wed in 1954, the couple moved to Prince's Bay. They settled in Tottenville a few years later.
Mrs. Peerson enjoyed baking, bird watching and feeding the birds. She most loved being with her family and enjoyed caring for her grandchildren.
Robert Sr., her husband of 42 years, died in 1997. She also was preceded in death by her son, James, in 2001.
Surviving are her sons, Robert Jr. and Paul; her daughters, Nancy Perricone and Sally Trivolis, and eight grandchildren.
The funeral service will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. in the Bedell-Pizzo Funeral Home, Tottenville. Burial will follow in Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery, also Tottenville.
