Lifelong Tottenville resident Dorothy B. Pagliuco, 80, who was devoted to her family, her faith and her community, died Sunday at home.
The former Dorothy Bundesen graduated from Tottenville High School, where she was on the permanent honor roll. She then worked for AT&T in its Manhattan clerical department for four years.
After she and Louis Pagliuco wed and were expecting their first child, she left the workforce and became a dedicated homemaker.
In 1965, the couple was asked to help operate Tottenville Car Service, owned by her father, Adolf Bundesen. Mrs. Pagliuco raised her family and operated the business for 15 years, until it was sold in 1980.
She was an active member of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, Tottenville, serving as senior warden, vestry member, president of Episcopal Church Women, and had been church treasurer since 1998. She was recently cited by the Staten Island Council of Churches for her decades-long involvement with St. Stephen's.
Mrs. Pagliuco was a member and past president of the Conference House Auxiliary, a member of the Tottenville Historical Society, and a charter member of the South Shore Swim Club.
She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, quilting, gardening, cooking and baking.
My mom was an exceptional wife, mother, grandmother, community member and churchwoman, willing to help others, and an example of the type of woman we were proud to know and remember, said her daughter, Nancy Schiedo.
