Dorothy Bridge, 100, of Tottenville, a former business owner and member of the Order of the Eastern Star, died Sunday in Eger Health Care and Rehabilitation Center, Egbertville.
Born Dorothy Kalb in Manhattan, she moved to Rossville with her family when she was an infant, and later to Tottenville, where she attended Tottenville High School and lived in the community for almost all her life.
Mrs. Bridge worked for 20 years at the family business, Bridge's Hardware in Tottenville, and then at the former Richmond Memorial Hospital in the pharmacy department for 10 years before her retirement.
She was actively involved in the Order of the Eastern Star for 60 years. She was a past matron of the Huguenot chapter and had served as district deputy.
Mrs. Bridge enjoyed baking, solving crossword puzzles and crocheting, and especially enjoyed making afghans for her children and grandchildren.
She attributed her longevity to healthy living and eating.
Her husband of 68 years, George, died in 2001.
Surviving are her daughters, Jean Johnson, Kathlene Shouldis and Georgann Toth; eight grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be Friday at 10 a.m. in the Bedell-Pizzo Funeral Home, Tottenville. Burial will follow in Ocean View Cemetery, Oakwood.
