Native Staten Islander Dorothy M. Bilotti, 82, of Tottenville, a loving matriarch who is remembered for her great sense of humor, died Wednesday in Staten Island University Hospital, in Ocean Breeze.

Born and raised Dorothy Gilmore in Rosebank, she graduated from McKee High School.

She moved to Todt Hill in 1967 and also lived in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., before settling in Tottenville in 1984.

Mrs. Bilotti, with her husband, Matthew, owned and operated the Cottage Tavern in New Brighton for about 12 years in the 1960s and 1970s. She also worked at Camie Answering Service in West Brighton.

She loved spending time with her family, including family members in Florida, and also doted on her pet bulldogs, Paulie and Lucy.

Mrs. Bilotti enjoyed cooking and was known for the Thanksgiving stuffing she made every year. She liked to play bingo at Holy Rosary R.C. Church, South Beach, and enjoyed visiting Atlantic City.

She was a loving mother and grandmother, and had a great sense of humor, said her granddaughter, Erica Flynn.

Matthew, her husband, died in 1982.

Surviving, along with her granddaughter, are her son, Carl; her daughters, Patricia Flynn and Anne Rose Bilotti; two brothers, John and Ronald Summa; a sister, Joanne Fitzpatrick; five more grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
