STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- Doreen E. Guglielmetti, 45, of Midland Beach, a devoted wife and mother whose courage in the face of illness was inspirational, died Friday of cancer in Staten Island University Hospital, Ocean Breeze.

Born Doreen Corson in Travis, she graduated from Port Richmond High School.

She met her future husband, Paul Guglielmetti, when her sister was dating a friend, and the couple fell in love. After their marriage in 1992, they moved to Eltingville, and settled in Midland Beach in 1996.

Mrs. Guglielmetti was a legal secretary for 22 years at Cleary Gottlieb Stein and Hamilton, a Manhattan law firm. She stopped working in November 2011, due to illness.

Being with her family and children gave her the greatest joy, and she delighted in entertaining family and friends. She loved baking and gardening, and grew flowers and vegetables.

She was a beautiful person and an amazing woman, so strong for her family, said her husband, Paul. She worried about everyone else, not herself, even when she was very sick.

Mrs. Guglielmetti was a member of the Staten Island Chapter, National Down Syndrome Society.

She attended Great Kills Moravian Church and St. Margaret Mary R.C. Church, Midland Beach.

Surviving, along with Paul, her husband of 20 years, are her sons, Paul Jr. and Vincent; her daughter, Victoria Guglielmetti; her parents, Diana and Robert Corson; her brother, Brian Corson, and her sister, Debbie Koop.

The funeral service will be Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. in New Dorp Moravian Church, followed by burial in Moravian Cemetery, New Dorp. Arrangements are being handled by the Bedell-Pizzo Funeral Home, Tottenville.
