Dennis Butler, 62, of Prince's Bay, a former restaurant owner and retired bus driver who loved boats and the water, died Friday at home.
Born and raised in Tottenville, he graduated from Tottenville High School.
Mr. Butler settled in Prince's Bay 20 years ago.
He had owned the former Butler's Restaurant and Bar in Rossville for 20 years. He also worked as a bus driver for Pioneer Transportation for 30 years, from 1974 until 2004, when he retired.
Mr. Butler enjoyed spending time at his homes in the Poconos and Forked River, N.J.
He loved boating and being on the water. He was a teenager when he got his first boat and had owned a few over the years.
He doted on his granddaughters, Julianna and Samantha, said his wife, the former Karen Eagle. He loved seeing them.
Also surviving Mr. Butler, along with Karen, his wife of 37 years, and his granddaughters, are his son, Michael; his daughter, Kristin Butler; two brothers, John and Eugene, and a sister, Susan Butler.
The funeral will be Wednesday from the Bedell-Pizzo Funeral Home, with a mass at 10 a.m. in Our Lady Help of Christians R.C. Church, both Tottenville. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Pleasant Plains.
