Dennis M. Alweiss
FDNY firefighter cherished his family and friends
It is with deep love that we announce Dennis M. Alweiss passed away on July 15, 2019, of natural causes at home in Tottenville, Staten Island, N.Y. Born in Brooklyn in 1941, he spent his youth in New York and California. After graduating from James Madison High School, he joined the Navy in 1958, where he honorably served until 1964.
Dennis was a dedicated firefighter of FDNY for nearly 25 years in Engine Companies 278, 152 and 154. He also was a successful business owner for over 15 years. He cherished his family and dear friends from all parts of his life. He held a steadfast faith in his Lord Jesus Christ and was a devoted member of his church for over 40 years.
Dennis' loves included racquetball, golf, cooking for others, making friends smile (he still had his best friend from first grade), and gifting just about anything to anyone. Consider your DVDs, books, gag gifts and thoughtful presents as a reminder of his love for you.
Dennis is survived by his beloved wife, Lorraine Marie Alweiss, his loving children, Veronica Michelle Alweiss, Adam (Michelle) Stephen Alweiss, Kerri Marie Alweiss, his sweet grandsons, Tyler Jack and Max Jasper, and many dear family members near and far.
